BOTSYO FINISHES IN FIRST
Congratulations to Raphael Botsyo on his first-place finish in the T54 100m race at this years Desert Challenge in Arizona. Finishing with a new personal best of 14.22s automatically qualifies Raphael for the World Championships and he has become the first Ghanaian Para Athlete to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games! A time of 14:70 was needed to qualify, not only did he achieve this he also beat his previous personal best of 14:62.
We would also like to congratulate Maclean Atsu Dzidzienyo who completed the men’s T53 in a time of 16:44 which also qualifies him for the World Championships.
This is a real testament to the need for proper equipment and training for Ghana’s Para Athletes. With is new racing chair and training program Raphael is already demonstrating what is possible! 'Botsyo for GOLD' is now one step closer to becoming a reality.
